As part of the service for our customers we set up email accounts using their domain name. So no more Yahoo or Hotmail emails and problems with finding an address that hasn’t been already registered. Now you can have any email you like in a form of: name@yourdomain.co.uk

For your convienience we have prepared this guide on how to set up an Outlook Express to help you manage your daily email tasks.

But before we begin small clarification - Outlook Express is a standard email program installed as a part of Windows XP operating sytem. If you have installed Microsoft Office you might have Microsoft Outlook installed or even better if you run Microsoft Vista, then you have preinstalled as a standard Windows Mail. In general these programs are very similar, and can be configured in a simiar fashion to Outlook Express but please keep in mind that there are some differences between them and this guide has been specifically prepared for Outlook Express users only.

Before you can use Outlook Express to send and receive e-mail, you need to set up an account. You can have more than one account—for business, online shopping, and so on—and each person who uses your computer may have their own, completely separate account. Outlook Express gracefully handles it all.

So.. How do you setup Outlook Express to get your e-mails? Just follow these simple steps and it’ll be finished before you know it :-)

Step 1: Start Outlook Express, from the main window you will be able to set up Outlook Express to send and receive mail from the e-mail account we have set up for you.

Step 2: From the main menu click on Tools then Accounts to start into this set-up process.

Step 4: On the Your Name page of the wizard, type your name as you want it to appear to everyone who gets e-mail from you. Most people use their full name, or the company name, but you can use any name—even a nickname—that people will recognize (for guide purposes the sample has Paul Temple). When you’re finished click Next.

Step 5: Type in the name of the e-mail address you are configuring (e.g. paul.teample@yourdomain.co.uk) and click on the Next button.

Step 6: Sending and retrieving mails requires the use of e-mail servers. For your email account, the Incoming mail server is an POP3 server, which is the default server selected in Outlook Express, so you don’t have to change anything here.

Setting up email server type

Also you will be required to, enter the addresses for the incoming and outgoing mail servers are required. The address is alway the same - mail.yourdomain.co.uk

Step 8: You are almost Finished, click Next and Finish.

Almost done! Press Finish

This has setup Outlook Express so that you can receive emails, however (if you chose to use one of the servers recommended by us to host your website) our servers use an authentication system to help prevent spam emails being sent. You will now need to set up Outlook Express to use our Authenticated E-Mail servers.

Step 9: Click on the “Mail” Tab, which will show only email accounts. Select your e-mail account and then press the “Properties Button”.
Properties of your email account

This will show you all the settings for you email account in Outlook Express, click on the “Servers” Tab.

Step 10: At the bottom of the Window there is a section called “Outgoing Mail Server”. You will need to tick the box ”My server requires authentication”.
Final change and that\'s it!

As default Outlook express should do all the setting for this change, however to check click on the “Settings” button, the option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” should be ticked.

Click on “OK” to close this window. The Click on “OK”.

Step 11: You have now fully set up your Outlook Express e-mail client to Send & Receive e-mails.
