The matryoshka is one of the most famous hand crafted souvenirs of Russia. Developed at the end of the 19th century during the period known as “Russian Style” Kirovskaya matryoshka are also known as ‘Vyatskaya matryoshka’ as the old name for the city of Kirov is Vyatka. Art Alliance is one of the leading wholesalers for matryoshka nesting dolls in the world. They supply museum, airport duty free and retail stores all over the world. All Art Alliance matryoshka are produced in the manufacturing facilities in Kirov, which has just celebrated 75 years of production.

Challenge

Art Alliance approached Omdesign with a brief to give their website a much needed face-lift and in the process we presented a renewal plan for their brand overall. Art Alliance asked us to make their site more usable and provide them with more backend functionality and an e-commerce solution. They wanted their customers to be able to place wholesale orders and know current stock levels. Then pay later via bank transfer. With shipping, they needed be able to add the value later, once the total is known.

Solution

We’ve created a website which is user friendly and intuitive and which balances a professional approach with dynamic aesthetic qualities. We helped to refine the idea into some beautiful designs. The site features e-commerce using a custom system built for Art Alliance and CMS which make the site easy to maintain, allowing for the updating of text, adding images and creating new user accounts. New customers can create an account with Art Alliance so that they can check and manage their order history. We also created the identity and stationery for Art Alliance, developing a sign that reflected the name and helped create a memorable logo.
